You’ll need to book in advance as this hidden hotspot is reservation only, and don’t be alarmed when you arrive and there really are old washing machines littering the place. It’s all part of the commitment to the theme.

The Washhouse is a great place to take your friends from out of town if you really want to impress them with your local knowledge! Plus, it’s just a 15 minute walk from Anaconda Cut. What’s not to love?

2 – The Temple

Manchester has an abundance of hidden bars with cool themes, and this particular venue is based around another kooky concept. Not one for the prudish, The Temple sits underground within the cosy confines of a former public convenience.

Popular with music fans, it has a quirky, punk-inspired vibe – complete with jukebox – and a great selection of beers. It’s also a favourite haunt of Mancunian musician Guy Garvey, who sang about it in “Grounds for Divorce”.

4 – Levenshulme Antiques Village

Slightly further afield, this hidden gem just outside Manchester city centre offers an array of vintage and retro treasures. Set across a majestic Victorian-era Town Hall and its outbuildings, the village hosts an eclectic mix of sellers.

Offering everything from fireplaces and furniture to records and jewellery, it’s the ideal spot to pick up a unique gift. If you’re feeling bold, why not try out your haggling skills, too?

Parking at Levenshulme Antiques Village is free and the drive from Anaconda Cut takes just 20 minutes. Alternatively, catch the 41 bus followed by the 192 bus, which gets you there in around 40 minutes.

5 – Three Minute Theatre

For a slice of culture, check out this hidden creative space in Afflecks, the Northern Quarter’s indie hub. Three Minute Theatre is an independent, wheelchair accessible, eco-friendly vegan venue, who minimise waste by not issuing physical tickets.
