5 Great Places For Dog Walking In Manchester

Local Guides, 21 August 2019

At Anaconda Cut, we are pet friendly and proud of it! We’ve already established a great community of pet owners who rent with us, and we love our four-legged residents.

But being a pet owner is not all about staying in cosied up in your apartment with your best friend. Dogs need regular exercise, and we’re lucky to have some fantastic green spaces nearby, perfect for walkies!

1 – Heaton Park

As Manchester’s biggest park – and one of the largest in Europe – Heaton Park covers over 600 acres, so it’s sure to tire out even the most energetic dog.

This is one of Manchester’s most popular dog walking destinations, and it even hosts Dog Jog events, a 5K race for you and your pet.

You can reach Heaton Park in 30 minutes from Anaconda Cut by car or tram, and there’s free parking, too.

2 – Clayton Vale

Clayton Vale is a picturesque nature reserve to the east of Manchester.

Just 20 minutes’ drive from Anaconda Cut, and offering free parking, this beautiful spot is another popular dog walking location.

This is no surprise, as Clayton Vale has plenty of luscious woodland for your dog to explore, the river Medlock running through its midst, and an onsite café – basically, everything you and your dog could want!

3 – The Meadow and Peel Park

Stroll along the Irwell and visit the Meadow, a vibrant park in Salford almost entirely enclosed by the river.

A short path takes you across the river to Peel Park, giving your dog even more green space to roam.

The Meadow and Peel Park have the added benefit of being within easy walking distance of Anaconda Cut, but if you prefer to drive there are plenty of free-to-park roads in the surrounding area.

4 – Philips Park

Located four miles east of Anaconda Cut, the beautiful Grade II-listed historical Philips Park retains many of its original features. It’s a perfect destination for history lovers as well as dog lovers.

Your four legged friend won’t be allowed in the children’s play park, allotments or sports areas, but there’s plenty of open green space they’re free to roam around.

Philips Park is just a 20 minute drive from Anaconda Cut.

5 – Worsley Woods

This hidden gem, brimming with wildlife and wildflowers, offers a gorgeous haven of nature just off the M60. It’s just a short 20 minute drive from Anaconda Cut.

Spanning over 30 hectares, there’s plenty of green space for you and your dog to explore, including nature trails maintained by the Salford Ranger team, who also put on events and activities in the woods throughout the year.
